It was a christmas gift to myself that keeps on giving. Cable is expensive and full of BS adds. A year later and I bought a roku box for $100 and Netflix for $8 a month and I get all the content I want for a fraction of the price and minus the infectious advertising! 18 months ago

How I did it: We took the plunge and cancelled our satellite TV subscription. Generally I’m ok with this, but Robbie alternates between, “We’ll sure get a lot done without the TV to distract us,” and, “Noooo! What have we done?!”Part of this is because he is old and does not consider Hulu and Netflix to be “TV.” But part of it I understand. Some stuff I will miss being able to watch as it happens– the occasional news item, the idea of awards shows (although I probably won’t actually miss those because I usually end up watching for 15 minutes, proclaiming them boring, and changing the channel anyway), and the rare sporting event… Read how I did it… 2 years ago
