Change all my documents to my married name

truthfully, I am not really excited about changing my name. But it makes the most sense, and my new husbnad wants me to. I am STILL waiting on the marriage license to come back in the mail, so I can start this process! I am not sure how long that should take, I got married 11/7 and it’s been almost a month. Hmm…

I went to the court house and got the official paperwork that I need to take with me to the DMV, Social Security Office, etc.

I plan on hitting the DMV first, but am waiting for a day when I am not feeling crappy and maybe have the energy to blow out my hair and apply makeup. Silly vanity, but I like to have good driver’s license pictures.

It’s been just over a year and there’s still 1 more thing left to change! Everything is done but my passport. And now that it’s been over a year I have to pay for it :-(

Once again my slackness causes me financial discomfort.

I have the forms, I will book the appointment for next week, promise.

This is a good practical goal and I’m starting on it today.

Places I have changed my name:
Got my marriage certificate
Changed my drivers license

Places I need to change my name:
Medicare
Passport
Charities I support

Places I am currently doing:
Bank – my husband is printing the forms today
AEC – I’m faxing the forms today

I’ll add more as I think of them or as they are done!

I’ve been married for 7 months and I still haven’t legally changed my name.

Good luck everyone… my passport came two days before I had to leave for my trip… if you are going to do this… do it before you need to use the document for anything!

I am getting VERY nervous now. I sent in my passport to be updated with my new name nearly 9 weeks ago and I still don’t have it back. I am going on an international trip in less than 2 weeks and I need to have it back by then! I hope I don’t REALLY regret trying to accomplish this goal!

since I have to go to the DMV for my driver’s license and the Social Security office for my ss card. I may think of some other things to update but those are the main ones.
