Chording is pretty easy, and gets you going. I’ve not played by note. www.chordie.com has chords for guitar, with a uke converter. It shows you the fingering as well.

With only four strings, and since it’s small, the ukulele works well as an instrument to accompany group songs. Though folks may not take you as seriously. I’ve never gotten that great at it, but I do love my ukulele and it’s inspiring to see this goal. It makes me want to learn to play it better. Plus it fits with my Hawaiian ancestry.
