Stop pressing snooze 22 months ago

The answer for me seems to be that I get into bed really, really early at night, and read a book, or do all the normal things I’d do in the evening, but do it in bed… And then when the alarm goes off in the morning I wake up happy and rested.
    It’s not the snooze button’s fault… It’s not enough sleep’s fault!!!
However, I really still don’t get enough sleep, and seem to “snooze” at least four times, so I’m going to keep “stop pressing snooze” in my list!

    Changed everything! 2 years ago

I had tried everything and could not break my snooze button addiction. I would press the button over and over and not be awake enough to even be aware of what I was doing. It made me late (10-15 minutes) to work and I am a teacher so I would get there just in time to let my kids in the door. Not good. I received a warning from the administrators. So my husband helped me by whipping out his tools and breaking the snooze button off of the alarm clock. This was in December, 2005. Now in February, 2007 I can honestly say I have not gone back. Since that first day in Dec., I have gotten up immediately and am now proud to be punctual to work. This problem used to cause me such stress and shame and I am so happy to be completely reformed. By the way, they don’t sell alarm clocks without snooze buttons! We tried looking!

Is it even possible? in some ways i dont think so but my alarm clock is so annoying that i always hit snooze. My excuse is that i use my cell phone as my alarm clock and snooze and disable are right next to each other haha. Next time i will just hit disable than no alarm all together ;-)

And I only hit snooze when i really dont need to be awake, If i need to be up i jump right up….

Wow im full of excuses. Im addicted to the snooze button.

... Yeah, sure, techincally I’ve stopped pressing snooze, but that’s only because I have a snazzy alarm clock that has fancy button I don’t understand. ;)

    Don`t oversleep 3 years ago

Here’s a reason not to hit the snooze button anymore: Sleeping too much can reduce life expectancy, according to a February 2002 study in the Archives of General Psychiatry. The study found that people who sleep more than eight hours per night had a significantly higher death rate than normal. But late-night-party-goers shouldn’t rejoice: researches say that sleeping less than four hours also increases death rates. People who sleep between six and seven hours per night were shown to live the longest.

    Classical..... 3 years ago

This is the thing, I love waking up to classical music. I have found that waking up to the edge (Toronto) and other radio stations, puts me in a worse mood in the morning….I don’t know why, but it does. Anyways, I started waking up to classical and now have become so relaxed in bed listening to it, I sleep right through it. Huh….up goes the volume!

Put it all the way across the room.. 3 years ago

If I am really tired, I will stand up, get my bearings, go press snooze and walf ten feet back to bed…. I think I am going to put the alarm clock out in the kitchen… Then I won’t go back to bed…. yeah right, who am I fooling…

How about just going to bed earlier so I am not dead to the world in the morning????

    I agree! 3 years ago

I know what you mean! I always press snooze and sometimes I get so annoyed that I just turn the alarm clock off…I can’t tell you how many of my university classes i’ve missed just because of this.

If there's one thing that probably ruins my life each day... 3 years ago

It’s the fact that I don’t get enough sleep and press snooze at least 10 times each morning. I would love to just get a deep, natural sleep each night and wake up either without an alarm, or the first time it goes off.
