Here’s what I got from Viridiana. They are really great! The picture does not do them justice.
I am going through this “I miss film” phase and this goal was about playing with it as much as possible. I love the instant gratification and tangible records that Polaroids provide, and I like the idea of someone else having them. In doing so I traversed streets in L.A. and met people that I wouldn’t have otherwise, all in the guise of shooting for this project.
Above are Maggie’s fantastic polaroids.
Polaroid cameras seem to find me. I have six of them right now: the four pictured here and a Spectra and another one-step that takes Time Zero, which I haven’t even tried out yet. I would still like to find an SX-70 with sonar focus and one of the Spectras that has all the cool manual features—mine is all autopilot.
Now I wish I could come into free/cheap film as often as I come into free/cheap cameras!
I’d be totally up for an exchange if anyone else is.
soon, i’ll have a working polaroid camera again. i’m bidding on a polaroid 450 on ebay and should have it in my grubby hands in two weeks.
most of my old polaroid photos were done as studies for oil paintings. i think the only ones i have left are blurry photos of my teeth with strange color shifts… i heated the polaroids while they were developing to mod the color palette. (fun fun)
