How I did it: In high school, I tried incredibly hard to get into even the basic art classes. Finally, my junior year, I was put into a 3d art class. I was easily frustrated, but I loved the clay. I had a hard time working on the wheel, and I swore I would never work on the wheel again. A year later, I needed an art class to fill space in my schedule, and I decided to give the wheel another try. Three weeks of trying to learn how to center later, I fin… Read how I did it…

The artists’ group that I belong to is having a year-end members’ show that I’m submitting a couple of pieces to. I learned something from my last experience and have selected a couple of favorites that I think will do well in a crowded room.
I didn’t see any mention of selling the work but, considering that a lot of people are cutting back on their Christmas shopping, I don’t anticipate anyone will have any money left over for art.
I dropped my art off at the gallery this evening. Overall, things are looking good and I look forward to the opening on Friday. Could I possibly sell something?
I got into the show. The gallery is called Art-O-Mat. I’ve never been there so I don’t know how impressive it is. As long as they don’t serve coffee and muffins, I’m happy.
I won’t check this goal as completed until the opening.
I submitted a painting for a group show. The exhibition has a concept and I had to create something to fit that concept. It felt like an art school project in that way. I don’t think they’re going to be drowning in submissions so I have a good shot at this.
I always have a lot of art projects going at one time and I was getting stymied trying to decide what to work on first. My solution is a simple point system. I rate every project on scale of one to ten in three categories – timeliness, difficulty and potential payoff. T – D + P gives me a number that I can use to rank the projects. So far the system has worked well.
It was at a school gallery for an art class I took, but it still felt nice to see it up.
The building where I rent my space had open studios last weekend. It’s an annual event and this is the first year that I participated. I don’t know if it got me any closer to my goal but it didn’t move me further away.
