Paperwhites are easy. The ones they sell either don’t have to be pre-frozen, or they’ve already done it. I planted them in rocks and water, but plain dirt like any other houseplant works if you don’t care that much about looking at the roots.
This year I’m trying crocuses. I had the bulbs outside for about a month, but I don’t think they got the “cold” idea since it was so warm in November here in Seattle. They sprouted anyway, no flowers yet though.

Ok, so every winter I want to do this to bring some spring into my house. And, every winter I realize that I should look up the scoop on how to force bulbs to do this. So some questions:
- can you use any bulbs?
- how long do you need to store them in the cold and how cold?
- do you plant them, hang them in the special containers where the bottom touches the water, etc.
Would love some advice :)
