If anything, I think it made me stop writing for myself, and write for other people… which wasn’t where I wanted my blog to go.
People doing this are also doing these things:
Entries
I’ve got a blog with over 500 subscribers and at first, that was really cool, but what’s not so great is the obligation you feel to keep up with all those people’s blogs and comment back to them, too. I’ve written entries where I got over 100 comments and it’s nearly impossible to keep up. I got sick of trying to keep everyone happy all the time and I ended up feeling miserable because keeping up with my blog was sapping all my time. Sometimes it’s not the number of lives your words touch, but the few that do love to read what you write. The more people you attract, the more psychos you attract too…and that’s the worst part.
i don’t really feel any more special or better. but i guess it all depends on your priorities ;) (it was important before it happened, though! i guess you just get blasé.)
Don’t worry, the traffic comes. I’ve been blogging almost 2 years and you’ll smash every barrier I’m sure. Feel free to drop me a line or, even better, head to Northern Voice or BloggerCon. I’ll be covering this at both conferences!
