How I did it: My school runs on a schedule where we have 4 classes per day, 90 minutes each, and they change after a semester. So, eight classes per year. People generally take two core credits (English, math, science, history) and two electives per semester. I apparently got all my electives out of the way early on, because when planning for my senior year, my guidance counselor told me I only had to complete three more credits and I'd be done. So I took my final English, math, and science credits - and an unnecessary chorus one - in my first semester of my senior year, and then by the end of the semester I was able to leave school.
It made me kind of sad to leave all my friends and my school behind, and to not be able to experience the senior year activities - like senior skip day, senior picnic, etc. But since finishing high school, I've been so much happier. I have all the time in the world to do what I want to, and spend my time the way I choose. I don't have to wake up at 6 am exhausted, and spend seven hours sitting boredly in a desk. I hated high school for the most part, and this was a way of gaining a few months of freedom before college without having to drop out.
If you hate high school but can't do homeschooling, or if you just want to finish early so you can get on with your life and go into the workforce or go to college, you should definitely consider this. Read how I did it… 13 months ago
