this is one of the things i’m most excited about doing. but it’s also a fairly low priority, relative to all the other stuff i need to do. want vs. need. i guess that’s a bit simple. most of the things i “need” to do are also things i want to do.
How to write my own WordPress template
How I did it: I begin creating a graphic template in fireworks, then I edited the code of an existing template. At the end I create the CSS code.

some of my other goals include learning more about wordpress and its capabilities in general and learning more php.
i also want to learn more about livejournal and write a livejournal template as well. i’m not sure whether that’s a great goal or not. i think the skills needed to do that may particular to livejoural and not transferable.
Althoug I was impressed by WordPress’ extensibility, creating my own template and some plugins where the reasons why I decided to ditch WP alltogether in favor of some simple, custom-build PHP scripts that more closely fit my requirements.
Once you get your head around it, it’s easy! Custom loops, specific templates – it’s all good.
