How I did it: I procrastinated in taking family photos.  I couldn't put it off any longer and got my husband and son together to snap a few photos in front of the tree.  I was tired and just wanted to get it over with; however, I was impressed with how they turned out.

Lessons & tips: plan out the details ahead of time.  Clothing, Santa hats, the scene, and more importantly schedule the day ahead of time and make sure that you have nothing else going on that particular day.  You don't want to be tired or rushed.

Resources: costco photo lab.  I used them because I could pick up the pictures the next day at my local costco warehouse.  They were very inexpensive... 15 dollars for 50.  Great deal.

How I did it:  I planned an anniversary party earlier this year and finally got ALL of the addresses I needed. That was my biggest problem, then I made a more prioritiezed list of who I had to send to. I started small with only about 30 cards going out. In the past my list included about 75 cards, the postage alone was daunting, nevermind having to address and sign all the cards.  I think maybe next year, I will have retur… Read how I did it…

    I know Christmas just passed, but I really wish I had sent out Christmas cards. I think next year, hopefully in advance of the season, I’ll make some Christmas cards and send them out. Not like a mass amount, but to family and friends that I genuinely want to be in contact with.

    Ok… We took the pictures this evening. I felt like I just wanted it done with. I didn’t put much thought into what we were wearing. I look terrible. My son makes the picture so I figured it doesn’t really matter. I now want to get healthy for 09 more than ever. Physically I do not feel that great. I am very out of shape. After I have August… I want to really focus on getting into shape before I have another baby.

    I just completed the cards online. Monday I have to pick them up and hopefully get them sent out ASAP.

    i bought some fancy papers and envelopes and a “magic” stamp for making your own impressions. should be a fun project! (but that doesn’t mean i don’t hate sending out christmas cards)

    Given that I now have a 1 hour commute each way via train my goal of personally writing a note in each card x 40 cards is totally doable.

    I hope to do this by 12/14 to allow for post time etc.

    okay… I failed. I ended up handing out christmas cards to some friends. Will try this year again. I already bought some cards on sale after Christmas. Hopefully I won’t lose them

    Part of this goal start collecing my friend’s and family’s addresses.

    That did not take long 2 years ago

    Though I did not actually send out cards, I did send out a family newsletter via email. I liked doing it this way since it was quicker, less money for me (no postage, copying, buying zillions of cards, etc.) and much more informative for the recipients. I also was able to include some digital photos of us. That would not have been possible with physical cards.

    I received many responses (not as many as I hoped for though.) I like to think I brought some cheer to my friends and family.
