It took both my husband and I three tries to pass the written test. What a freaking nightmare. More than 50% of Italians fail the first written test. AND they don’t offer the test in any other language. Oh sure you can take the oral exame, but it’s in Italian too. And they speak in double negitives. “When at the flashing light you don’t make a left turn, NO? What the ^#%^. Then of course, once you do have your licence, it’s not like anyone follows the laws. URGGHHH oh yea, and I have been driving for 25 years, without any accidents or tickets. Does that matter NOOOOOO I am still treated like a pimple-faced 17 year old. I am not allowed to go over 100 km/h for FOUR YEARS!!!! Bitter?

I got a lend of “The Official Irish Driver Theory Test” for the PC from my sister-in law. It contains every official question I may be asked for the test to get my provisional license (learner’s permit). It randomly selects 40 questions, and I think the pass mark is 32. I took it once last night and I got 35 correct, that’s without even studying! I have the forms to get my eye test done (here in Ireland, you have to go to an actual optomotrist to get your sight test for your driver’s license, unlike in the states, where the DMV gives you a half-ass test). And I just found out that I can get a free one covered under Dan’s PRSI. I’m a little nervous, because I am pretty confidant that they won’t pass my eyesight (because its shit), and seeing how I haven’t owned a pair of glasses in about 15 years, I’m probably going to have to splash out some dosh for a new set of specs. Oh well, I’m sure my eyes will thank me later (though my bank account will be in a huff and probably not talk to me for a while).
I have the book to study for the theory test, as well as the form to get my eye test done…why the hell am I procrastinating so much on this goal?
