I just learned how to do this this summer. I started in a pool, and then in the ocean. The only thing I can say is you just have to go!! And don’t forget to blink! Your eyes will start to sting if you don’t blink under water.
How to learn how to open my eyes underwater without a pair of goggles
How I did it: I googled how to do this and got some tips and advice. Then, I filled the bathroom sink up with luke warm water, held my nose with my hand, closed my eyes and dipped my head under. I did this a few times to get myself use to it and practised just being relaxed under water.
Then, once I was relaxed enough I opened my right (and best) eye. Then did it with just my left, then both! And it never stung!
Lessons & tips: The only thing that scared my about this was my eyes stinging and admitedly, when I was just getting my head out of the basin after not having opened them, and got a few drips in when I opened them in the air, it did sting. But, tbh, I think this might've just been psychology, as when my eyes were fully emmersed in the water never stung at all!
I'd advise to just not rush yourself, be relaxed and don't be scared, as there really isn't anything to be scared of! :)
