This was lovely memoir. It focuses on his running life, but includes a lot about his writing life as well. I’d definitely recommend it if you like Murakami’s books. Even more so if you’re interested in writing, training, or working towards any kind of long term goal.

“Your heart is like a great river after a long spell of rain, full to the banks. All signposts that once stood on the ground are gone, inundated and carried away by that rush of water. And still the rain beats down on the surface of the river. Every time you see a flood like that on the news you tell yourself: That’s it. That’s my heart.”
in love.
This was a great book. The most ‘normal’ of all the Murakami books I’ve read so far, but it was still very interesting and flavored with his unique style.
A Wild Sheep Chase
The Elephant Vanishes
Kafka on the Shore
Sputnik Sweetheart
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
Dance Dance Dance
Blind Willow Sleeping Woman
I love his books so much!! I started in January, and I would have read much more by now but it’s hard to find English books where I am. I already read everything in the English Library in town so now I’m working the internet. I just received Norwegian Wood through Bookmooch.com!
Strangely enough, it’s hard to find people IN Japan who’ve read his books. He seems to be more popular overseas. But yesterday I found out a coworker used to be just obsessive as I am now! She even said that when she was younger, she quit a job, and when the manager asked her ‘why?’ she responded that she loved Haruki Murakami books, and she needed more time to read them. It sounds absolutely ridiculous but I completely understand! We had a good laugh over that :) I’m really looking forward to being able to share my obsession.
Yesterday I received the book “A wild Haruki chase” from amazon.com, which is of course a must-have for a true Murakami fan like me. :D
Yesterday in the bookstore I discovered they finished translating another Murakami book: Dance dance dance is now also available in Dutch. Because I’ve already read all the other Dutch translations of his books, I of course immediately bought it. I’m so happy to have a “new” Murakami to read!
Yesterday I finished “After the quake”! Now I’ve read all Murakami books which are translated in Dutch.
South of the Border, West of the Sun
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
The Wind-Up bird chronicle
Sputnik Sweetheart
The Elephant Vanishes
