circumnavigate the globe

I’m a wanderer at heart, i have no idea where i’m gonna end up but i know it’ll be great fun getting there!! I’d love to circumnavigate the globe, really just so i could say i’d done it. Seeing all of the countries on the way would be my main goal but it’d be great to be able to brag about something like that…

One trip. Any way possible (fly, drive, walk, crawl, swim)
Leave home going one way, and return comming from the other way.

I want to do this the old-fashioned way. A one shot trip. No air travel. I’d do some planning but it would be more of an adventure if I just headed out. Maybe with a copy of “Around the World in 80 Days.”

but I did Seattle->New York->London and Seattle->Shanghai->London. Got myself a little globe cake on the final trip to London.

The best link was Shanghai->London which went over both the Gobi Desert and Siberia. I was flying Alitalia and they insisted we pull down all the shades and sleep even though it was 11 in the morning. I think they just wanted an excuse not to feed us dinner so they pretended it was nighttime. (Alitalia sucks!) I went to the back of the plane, pulled up a window shade and watched for hours. It was great!

i may even try and do it in 80 days. this will take some planning though and i’m not sure i’ll be able to afford it until i’m 80. and then the 80 days thing may be a little difficult. so i’ll aim to do it before i’m 79.
