I finally got a grown-up bed (haha) with a frame and a headboard. although it takes up way more space in my room, I can put things under it! yay!
I got so excited about my bedroom’s re-vamp, I posted it here in saucy dwellings on livejournal.
I basically just need to tackle the living/dining room & make it more functional, pretty it up a bit, and I will be done!

today I hung hooks on the wall for coats, and got a basket to throw all my hats and mittens and scarves in near the door of my apartment.
it rules because one of the worst things about my last place was that was no place to put coats, bags, shoes, etc when you come in the door. just in time for snowy weather too!

I moved in with the dreamboat a month or so after moving out of my old apartment (with the ex) and our apartment is coming along so excellently. It is truly a mix of his and my style and he’s got me into becoming a minimalist! I’m slowly getting rid of things I no longer need or want, and it’s at a good time too (I used to be such a packrat). I’m also cutting way down on the plastic and petroleum products I’m consuming, so going through the house to get rid of things is helping me see where I use plastics, and helping me formulate my master plan for replacing them with something more earth friendly and natural when they’re old, broken or used up. I’ll be posting photos of our home and noting the things that are going out the door on my blog, Destination Fantastic.

this is such a many spendored thing, fixing up my humble abode. there’s always another plant, another cushion, another something that sets everything off the right way. it’s never totally over, in the same way that housework is never done.
the reason why i’m crossing this off the list is because where i live feels like home in a way that it never really has before. i’ve got a sleeper sofa, i’ve got kitchen block counter space, i’m reorganizing everything, i’m editing the clothes in my closet. it’s a brave new world.

i finally got a sofa, in june. the living room curtains came much earlier. there’s a chandelier in the kitchen, beautiful and ornate. there’s plants everywhere, thank God. the art on the walls is lovely. the whole place got painted about two years ago. and that pesky roommate is GONE.
i still need a new bed and i need kitchen accessories, like a rolling pin and a knife sharpener. the little things i can get here and there, like IKEA. the bed? i’m hoping to make that purchase by the end of the year.
I realize that ‘finish decorating my apartment’ is an ongoing process…I buy more things take them out…So I will never be finished.

Its me and the fellas apartment, and now i want to move, so ill probably be revisiting this goal in the next year or so. Jeebus.
Eek the walls are so bare in our apartment. We really need some cheap artwork or something… I wish I was more artistically inclined. I hope we figure something out soon because it is driving me nuts living in an apartment with white walls and nothing on them!
we need to get furniture….we have bedroom furniture, but we need stuff in the living room and kitchen, and i would like to put furniture in the spare room, too…we should be able to get a couch soon….i read somewhere that if you put things in your place little by little only putting in stuff that you absolutley love, then your place will be awesome and full of style….maybe by this summer…..
Well, good good good. The new furniture is in and looking swell, the entertainment center is terribly nice. Now, I need to find a home for both end tables, score some drapes and maybe a few throw pillows and I’ll be very set. Actually, not true. I really want some beautiful Jewish artwork for my walls. Then I’m set.
