go ice skating in Millenium Park

I’ve been wanting to go ice skating in Millenium Park for years now… ever since it opened… and I FINALLY went last night! I was so excited cuz I was starting to think it wouldn’t happen this year but I hung out with my friend Jacque all day yesterday cuz she’s leaving to go back to Oregon soon and it was kind of a spur of the moment decision but it turned out to be one of the funnest nights of the year! I swear… it’s like the whole night was meant to be. We drove down there and there was less traffic on 290 then I’ve ever seen in my life which is so bizzare… especially for a friday night.. so it only took like 20 minutes to get there… the parking garage on Monroe was almost empty which was also really strange so there was no problem parking… And Jacque’s friend Joe had his own skates and he brought his 2 sister’s pairs of skates for me and Jacque so that saved us $10 a piece for skate rentals… so then the only person who needed skates was Sean and there was a 2 hour long line around the entire rink for skate rentals but as it turned out the security guard let him cut in front of hundreds of people to rent skates because Sean told him that his 3 friends all had skates already and he’d have to wait by himself… so it just all worked out so perfectly! And oh my god it was SO much fun! It was so pretty with all the skyscrapers surrounding us and the trees around the park still covered in christmas lights. The only thing that could have possibley made it better would be having a cute date there to hold my hand :) :) :) The whole thing really made me remember why I love this city… even in the winter time! :)

I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life and I’ve never gone ice skating downtown. Awww how much fun would that be….. Go ice skating in millenium park and then go for one of those horse drawn carriage rides through the city on a cold night and see all the Christmas lights on the tall buildings? Oh my gosh I would absolutely looove that! :)

freakin’ finally! i was afraid i wouldn’t be able to do this ‘til November since the rink closes in March.

i love ice skating outside, and i haven’t done it in years. they used to have an outdoor rink at Navy Pier, but they don’t anymore. they have one at Millenium Park, though, and i’ve never even been to that park! well, it’s pretty new, and when am i ever in the Loop?

what i’d really like to do is start playing hockey again, but for now, skating outside will do.
