it was glorious! you should have been there to see, what i almost did.
this was a couple weeks ago. i was playing pool with my roommate at our favorite watering hole. we played about three games, and drank a couple beers. just an all around nice night.
um… i think i was stripes. anyway for me, it might as well have been an impossible shot. i didnt have an angle shot or strait away, which is about all i can do… and then i still half the time dont get it in. well, i looked at the table. i was going to have to hit another stripe into a stripe so it would bounce on a rail, hit another rail and go into the corner pocket at the other end of the table. the cue ball (?) was about middle pocket range on the table. there were probably about 3 or 4 other balls scattered around the balls i was aiming for, maybe there was 1 or 2 at the other end. so i just kept looking at the table. my roommate telling me to just shoot. and i was all like give me a sec. let me try an experiment…. i tell her what i am going to attempt to do. she just rolls her eyes.
it was an impossible shot as far as both of us were concerned. feasible, just not within our skill set.
i took the shot anyway. it was beautiful man… i missed. but i mean i was hell on close to getting it where i wanted it to go. did everything i described to her. i was maybe an inch off from being a direct down the hole shot, bounced off a little wee bit on the side of the corner pocket… the corner if you will of the pocket.
we, went, crazy, anyway.
awesome…
and of course the last game, neither one of us could get the damn eight ball in to any pocket for like 20 rounds. you know, the magic comes and goes.

this might be a goal for 2008.
i like to play. there is a pool hall right next to my apartment. there are more than enough people to drive me out of my own den, not to mention out of my skull. unfortunately, finding someone who wouldnt mind playing with me (becuz i am not that great) and who could actually at the same time help me improve my skill set is going to be a bit more tricky. i wonder what the rules are as far as going solo and requesting a table for yourself, or boraching the subject with a complete stranger already in residence. i bet they have a bulleton, some place people can request matches and/or partners to spar with. maybe if i take a liking to this do this once a week or so.
actually! this would also be a great way to get people out of my apt! omg… do these people need to do more than smoke and drink and watch tv all day and night long. and it would be a nice gesture to my rm, that i dont absolutely despise her friends, which i dont, its just not all that engaging of a situation… people sitting around on a couch for hours on end. and think about it, if four people are going out, one to buy the beer, one to buy the hot wings, and one to pay for the time and tables, the fourth person drives. besides when that fifth person comes to call, i can always opt to stay home.
aw… home alone. but i think i shall broach this subject. yes, yes, i think i will.

id love to actually learn all the tricks and what not.. it would be awesome to own my own table but that will have to wait till i get out of school….

I played again yesterday after not playing the whole semester. Still not so good, but I somehow beat my old roommate!

my roommate has decided to teach me how to play. So far I either play a game horribly, or somehow manage to do really well.
