is such a challenge. My prof is having me set self-imposed deadlines…hopefully that will help. Not sure it will…but I will try.
How I did it: I had an excellent supervisor, and started out small. I read heaps of papers and my first paper was purely on reviewing existing approaches. I have now published two papers (well, conference papers), and will hopefully have more in the next year :-)
Lessons & tips: Ask for feedback and constructive criticism. Take control of your publishing platform as soon as you can. Be disciplined when taking notes of your readings, and keep your references up to date.

Am trying to finish a manuscript before winter break. It’s my first paper in the lab where I’ve been a postdoc for about a year. Preparing the figures are taking a HUGE amount of time… 1-2 days for each one…

Just found out that a paper I am on was accepted for a major international conference presentation. Woo hoo! Building that CV.
I haven’t published anything for almost two years. Now that I changed my major from English to Journalism, and I’m taking 3 writing classes, I should get something decent. Or at least I’m going to try!
Well, it does sound cool, but in the end I don’t know whether it matters much. Maybe I should feel great for having published a few articles, but I always have such high expectations :-)
Anyway, I suppose it’s a good thing and I’ll be trying to do this again and again!
I got hired today to work for a creative writing magazine on my campus. I have the skills to generate income writing, the opportunities are wide open, the articles I write for this magazine could take me far… and the skills that I learn will be invaluable.
Yesterday an editor of a really cool local paper asked me if I would like to become an onstaff writer, I would write opinion pieces on politics and culture. Its funny, when you let the universe know exactly what you want things just fall into place
I just found out today that an article that I submitted with revisions was accepted for publication—-it’s a side project not related to my dissertation, but it’s still a publication and I’m the sole author!
I just got news that an article on which I am third author will be published in Brain Reseach.. At last, after 2 years, my honours thesis actually produces something!
