Having never been one to follow convention, I can’t say I regret not marrying F first before having D because it wasn’t done in the ‘proper’ order – I simply want it done for the sake of paperwork and most importantly, to change my last name!!!! 7 years after the fact and I’m still dragging this name around like a ball and chain – like a bitter taste in my mouth that won’t wash away. I now feel safe in the knowledge that N doesn’t care one way or another if it is I, or her stepmother who shares her last name so what’s stopping me? Quick trip down to city hall in my jeans and wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am….we’re hitched! I love it when a plan comes together…..

It was a total shock. Got proposed to for my birthday (Thanksgiving) and was married on New Years Eve (almost).

Whether or not you get married again, you should just get over the idea of being married. I think that the lesson here is that if you try to force marriage, just like anything that you try to force, it usually ends badly. Life happens as it happens. Sure a little help along the way never hurts,though, just in moderation.
