The world could use a little more love.
How I did it: I've always done this but I'm going to step it up. I think it comes from working in sales, so many people look misserable, and treat you terrible. So I make an extra effort to smile at all sales people, cashiers, delivery people, waiters/waitresses and the like. They always get nothing but the best smile and a normally a laugh (at my expence) from me. If I make eye contact with strangers I either look away quickly or smile, but I am going to try to smile more. Older people seem to appreciate it the most, it really seems to make their day, smiling is free and it never hurts
Lessons & tips: Dont worry about the other persons reactions. They are either going to be delighted or keep on being miserable. The first seems to happen far more in my experiance.

i grimace at plenty of strangers as i’m cycling by … and sometimes they do indeed get a big, fat grin. counting this done and ongoing.
But going to try harder! I usually try to smile at old people as they seem to appriciate it more, plus they are less likey to take offense at smack me one. Oh the joys of a modern world…
A smile changes a persons life. It opens up opportunity and connects you for a second.
I either have my “game face” on or I am smiling. Hwoeevr, whenever someone approaches me or speaks to me I always try to smile and hopefully receive one back. :-)

Have been giving guarded half-smiles at irregular intervals, but this was a real goodie. There was a perfect excuse: snow followed by freezing temperatures followed by snow followed by rain = complete pavement chaos. Like walking in slush puppies on ice. Surprised I didn’t land on my amply cushioned behind on several occasions. A dapper-looking chap in a suit was clearly also feeling a bit wobbly, and we exchanged a grin. Excellent work.
