The Great Falls Raceway and Power System is a recognized historic site. The raceways are a series of canals built above the Great Falls of Paterson that would divert water toward industrial facilities, primarily mills, that we located away from the river. Falling water would great a clean power source to grow Paterson into a major industrial center.

More of a rapids than a falls, the little falls, located in Little Falls NJ, once powered several mills alongside the river. Some of those mills have been converted in condominiums with HUGE ceilings.

The Great Falls of the Passaic River is a National Historic Park surrounding a prominent waterfall on the Passaic River in Paterson. The Great Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in the United States. It played a significant role in the early industrial development of New Jersey starting in the earliest days of the nation.
On March 30, 2009, President Obama signed legislation designating the falls as Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park, which provides additional federal protections for the 77-foot waterfall
One of the funs things about this photo is that I was playing around with the settings and such. Doesn’t the photograph look a little like one of those early 20th Century hand coloured post cards?

You see a brick building standing on a street corner on Paterson New Jersey.
I see Possibility.
You see missing windows.
I see rooms of a design studio filled with natural light.
You see 19th Century architecture.
I see the home of a 21st Century light industrial company.
Possibility to success is all around us, sometimes we just need to rethink how we look at things.

ambler I'll rest when I'm dead
About 20 and 1/2 miles away. A great place to watch MLB. Currently, the first place Texas Rangers are doing very well (cross fingers here). A beautiful building and arena that has been here since about 1995. A grand place that will endear itself to the local community long after it’s industrial sized neighbor has been razed and forgotten about.
