I completed the first semester successfully, but have decided to let this goal hibernate for the time being. Librarianship is my first choice, after all. I will however keep my eyes open for job opportunities in archives too.

I considered supplementing my MLIS with some archival science. Now I’m almost halfway through the courses required to apply for archivist positions. We’ll see what happens.
Came across archiving as a career option last year when I did this “what job would suit you” thing on prospects, and it seems right up my street. Hoping to get work in this area over the summer, by writing some speculative letters to the local archives. Long term, really want to get my Masters at Liverpool Uni. Have to wait and see for that.
I am currently gearing up to apply for grad school in Spring 2009 and I can’t wait to start on the track towards becoming an archivist. I am starting some internships this coming semester at two local archives as well as some volunteer work. But my dream would be to work at the National Archives in Washington DC at some point. Although this archivist I will be working with has said that previous volunteers have gone on to work at the Met and other distinguished museums across the country. So we shall see.
I am a librarian but I decided to add archivist to my list of degrees..specifically moving image archivist. I love it and I love the people I have met at conferences and in my program. So a couple more years and it will be official.
