- pulled up carpet in living room and hallway
- painted all three bedrooms
- primed kitchen walls
- removed hideous curtains and window treatments
- paint kitchen walls
- sand and paint kitchen cabinets

- paint living room
- clean and polish hardwood floors
- sand and refinish a couple of bad spots on hardwood floors
- paint panels on washer/dryer partition in kitchen
- put up new curtains/blinds
- painted built-in bookshelves in sunroom
- painted hallway

Things left to do:

- carpet sunroom (hopefully wedding gift $$$ will fund this!)
- furnish sunroom (hopefully wedding gift $$$ will fund this!)
- install new blinds in sunroom
- replace kitchen countertops
- install new light fixture in dining area
- reseal windows on the outside (we need to do this soon, winter is coming!)
- paint exterior of house

I’ll keep adding things as I think of them!

Paint everywhere 1 week ago

Not really, but it’s always a messy proposition. The great room of the house and entry have needed a fresh coat since we moved in, oh, nine years ago. And when the chum was on the way it got put off. Now the chum is three and a half and past the wild, food-flinging while learning to eat stage.

There was plenty of sheetrock patching, what with close to two dozen popped nails to repair, and some bad sheet rock in one corner to repair. Cleaned paint from hinges and light fixtures from prior owners paint jobs as well. I hate lazy paint jobs like that, but never saw any reason to take the time to clean up that mess till now.

The walls are painted: Suntan yellow for the living/dining room, Rhubarb for the entry, and Cottontail for the trim.

The foyer is almost completed. There is trim around the door to hang. The great room walls are painted, and I’ve stared painting the trim. That’ll be followed by the bookcases. Soon, soon it will be complete.

start with the scraping 2 weeks ago

scheduled 15 minutes on thursday to find a something to scrape with ad scrape some paint off the trim, on my front porch which is really a large stoop.

I am looking at my home as a realtor would 3 weeks ago

I am determined to start with the front steps. We live on a hill. Yesterday during yoga practice I noticed the sun rising so beautifully. I realized that the best place on my property to enjoy this view was from my front steps – which are elevated. The trim and tha railing need a coat of paint and I would like a comfy seat – maybe a bench, and defintiely some flowers and plants.

The roof people 3 weeks ago

are coming to give me an estimate tomorrow. After that, I can figure out how much I can spend on fixing the gates, repainting girl’s room, fixing the caulk, making sure the upstairs bath isn’t leaking between flours, fixing the lights that don’t work, repainting over the cracks, painting the smudges in the ceiling, etc….

I bought 4 weeks ago

a new mattress, for the 1st time in 15 years. Somehow it makes me happy to have a mattress never shared with Ex.

I’m surprised by how good it felt in the store. I’m hoping it’ll improve my sleep.

We will play switcheroo. My old mattress goes to the guest room. The double bed in there becomes my girl’s new bed, which is wonderfully exciting for her. Her own twin mattress will be used to make a daybed/couch in the guest room.

Progress….

I called another yard company, desperately seeking someone to cut the lawn.
