How to ride an elephant

How I did it: My roommate Jenny and I decided we should go to Thailand to see a sex show and ride an elephant. We set a date so far in the future that (at the time) felt as if it would NEVER arrive... but as the time approached, we both had the time and money. So we went! We found a day-trip that included an elephant ride, a hike, and a riverboat ride. We left Chang Mai at the crack of dawn--and returned at the end of the day soaking wet, dusty, and sunburned. It was a GREAT day. Resources: The 3 Sis Bed and Breakfast helped us find an adventure company that would allow us to fit a bunch of activities into one day. |

I adore elephants and I would love to get to interact with one properly. Riding an elephant would be really exhilarating for me, I hope to get a chance to do this someday. But since I don’t think I’ll get that chance anytime soon, I’ll put this goal on hold.
But I will do this one day! You can count on that. :)

Aw I really have to ride an elephant sometime… but it has to be in a country like affrica or something, so you can get the full experience. I think it would be pretty scary but worth every moment!

I’ve ridden elephants 4 times. Twice in the Golden Triangle in North Thailand, twice on the Thai island of Koh Samui. We rode through jungles, over streams, up and down hills. Got to feed them bananas by hand after. Good fun.

It was excellent and I did enjoy it BUT the care of the elephants was questionable. Would recommend others to do it if you are sure the elephants are taken care of.
Next time I would like to be mahout and sit behind the ears!
