Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Kimber~acknowledging a job well done...

we’ve been really short staffed lately. just this time of year when people are scheduled for vacation or new hires that simply didn’t work out. i had one leave unexpectedly due to a death in the family. my staff have gone above & beyond with very long hours & not complaining at all. i bought each of them their favourite bottle of wine to enjoy on their next days off. i’m very lucky to have such awesome staff & i like to reward them when i can when they least expect it! many of them have received several wonderful comments from guests too….:) i’m feeling really proud to have such a cool team behind me…:)

all we need is a little push…:) lately we’ve been having really freezing temperatures…:/ -37 C brrrrrrrr!!! i’m not kidding! that’s without the wind chill factor…:/ a couple nights ago on my way home from work i was doing my best to be careful on very snowy icy roads. visibility was basically zero…:/ this SUV zoomed past me… i was going about 80 km (speed limit is 90 km in the national park) the vehicle was obviously speeding but i continued to drive slower just to be careful. a few minutes later i see the same SUV stuck in the ditch & she can’t get out with her wheels spinning. omg it was soooooooooo cold & windy! so i stopped & helped push. another car stopped & helped as well. with the two of us pushing the car it only took a few minutes & she was out! wow was it cold….:/ the driver was soooooo grateful for our help! i couldn’t stand the thought of just driving by with it being so cold. i’m just happy we got her out before it got any colder…:) it can get pretty cold in the mountains after dark. after i left i noticed the driver driving much slower. we have a saying here…snow means slow…:)
