the snowstorm delayed us, but when I came home from work the tree was up and the dining room was decorated nicely. it was fun.

Just put it up now. Same tree as last time I posted it… but different house and different town this year.
Because of personal circumstances I may spend Christmas alone. Hopefully I will be able to spend it with my fiance. So, either way, neither of us have any decorations, so this Saturday I went to Dollar General after work and picked some out. I got us a little white tree for $10, a pack of red ornaments and a pack of sparkly gold ones that were $2.50 a piece, a string of multicolored lights, and a string of icicle lights we will probably put up at his place. I also got some stockings.
I was scared he’d hate the tree and I’d have to run out and buy spray paint, but he told me yesterday he’s always wanted a white tree. So I’m excited.
I get to put it up again soon… I think I’ll do it on 1st December.
There’s one of those cheap stores in my town, and they have pink Christmas trees and purple ones too. I really love them… weird as it is. Maybe one year I’ll get one of them too.
Last Christmas I was thinking about how long it had been since I had a Christmas tree, but I really couldn’t afford one. As it is, I often have to spend Christmas Day alone, so I figured no matter how I did it, I deserved to have a tree in the room. I went to those really cheap shops, and a couple of charity 2nd hand stores… and for just over $10 (and in Australian money, so that’s really saying something)... I managed this.
It’s small and simple, and you can tell it’s all cheap… but it meant the world to me. I’ll be putting it all up again soon in a month or so.
Things are actually tighter this year, but I had the foresight to get a bit of very cheap Christmas stuff in the days that followed last Christmas… so it will look even more Christmassy in here.
Bigger than a table top one b/c my ferrets keep knocking it over or running off with ornaments, I need a bigger one that stands on the floor, the only problem is where would I store it after christmas? Not enough closet space in my apartment :/
I wish it were a real one, but that’s just impractical for me, living alone and on the second floor. So instead I got a really nice artificial (as nice as artificials can be, anyway) that’s prelit with lots of multicolored lights. I can’t wait to set it up. Christmas should last forever!
