volunteer at the SPCA

Yesterday was a productive day, starting with my volunteer orientation meeting at the SPCA. Apparently, their website wasn’t working correctly during the sign-ups, so instead of having their usual 25 volunteers show up, there were probably close to 50 people there. Nonetheless, it all seemed to work out great, even during our tour of the facilities.

Until recently (about a year+ ago), I have always had an animal companion in my life. I am currently living in an apartment where I am not allowed to have a dog, so I thought that volunteering for the SPCA would be a good way for me to fill this void and help the community at the same time.

I’m really excited about the volunteer opportunities at the SPCA, so now all I have to do is mail in my application.

I am now a confirmed volunteer at the SPCA! I’ve already worked my first adoption drive and am currently training with animal exercise. It’s great and even though I go home covered in dog hair and smell a little funky, it worth doing. Even my fiance said, when i came home from the adoption drive, “you really feel good about what you’re doing, don’t you?”

And I do.

I filled out the paperwork to do so and I now have an orientation meeting tomorrow!

I love the SPCA—they do amazing things for animals. We adopted our dog, Emma, from them and since then I’ve wanted to get more involved.

I hope it all works out!

I’ve been avoiding this one as now we have some land I know I’m going to want to bring every damn animal home and that will lead to divorce (and I’m not even married!)
Anyway..to make some progress I had a “MO”vember competition at work and conned a number of the men into growing moustaches to raise awareness for the SPCA and make some money for them as well…voting is open on this competition now and its been pretty sucessful, I hope by the end of the month to have made them a tidy sum

Not yet… Still too young! But – I have fundraised for them, we raised $696.41 CDN in all. It was a great experience, and everybody – a VERY worthy cause. I hope everybody knows how great they are and how much work they do to help the animals.

I’m going down to the SPCA to give them a donation which i am then going to give as a xmas pressie to someone at work when we have our xmas party…..anyone else want to join me????

I love animals and we got our beautiful Max from the SPCA about a year ago…they really need more help but I don’t want to volunteer until I’m sure I can offer a real commitment to them. It will happen though.
