Well i was very happy that not only did i bring my bags to the super market but every where today. I went to zellers, Smart set, Staples, Safeway and payless and used all my own bags.
rainlight is back to work tomorrow.
How I did it: By making sure I have a bag-for-life folded up in my shoulderbag. I usually have. Sometimes I don't. In supermarkets it's easy, in corner shops very often they whip out a bag at once, but I've been saying 'I've got my own' for a while and they do seem to be catching up.I can't really say how long it took because I've been doing it in principle since at least 2004 but I've got better at it. How I did it: I bought three bags from Whole Foods. They were 99 cents each. Now, they stay in my trunk and I use them everywhere - grocery stores, Target and Wal-Mart, I even brought my lunch to work in one of them a few times. It's a cheap and easy way to help the environment. Read how I did it…

Venna Halo feeling confused and feeling tired
But I really need to get a lot better at this. I would really like to have it be a habit to have bags either rolled up in my hands or hanging on my shoulder when I go into a store. I feel bad when someone asks me if I need a bag and I have to nod yes.. argh!

So far so good, I really need to start bring my bags and stop using any plastic bags!!
But then I guess that is why I have this goal on here to remind me. I went to the store yesterday and forgot all my bags.
BUT…I did put reusable bags in my 2 oldest son’s and my mom’s stockings for Christmas….

... I just started carry Envirosax in my store so I will be sure to start carry them with me as they roll up really small and can carry a whopping 44 pounds. (bit of a shameless plug, but in this economy why not!)

to bring bags to the store today. It felt good, like I was contributing- or something.
The first store (my store for bath and cleaning proucts) was Walmart. It was a little difficult with the new round bagging “system” thingy that they have, but she was helpful.
My mom and I walked to the veggie store on the corner of where her facility is. I was a little worried not having the car, but I did remember my bags. I tried not to buy too much so that it would all fit. She held the watermelon on her lap and in the end I hooked a bag to each of her hand grips on the wheelchair and it worked out just fine. They held up much better than plastic would have!!
We talked and joked and it was a nice visit shopping and a nice short walk to get her out for a bit!
I think I might ask her more often (she usually says no) and she may say yes more often!!

I bought two today and used them at the veggie market. I would like to have about 4 more, but it is a start. I haven’t done this for about 15 years!!
It used to be real big back in the late 80’s early 90’s! Kind of cool that it is coming back!
I keep extra bags in my car, so whenever I head to the store, there they are. The last 10 times I’ve been to the store, I have used them. When I get them inside, I put my car keys right next to them so I remember to take them back out to my car. I think this is incredibly important, and not too difficult and encourage everyone to give it a try!

I put the sturdy shopping bags back in the car after using them with a few regular plastic shopping bags too.
