I’ve been vegetarian for about 9-10 months now. I feel better mentally, physically, emotionally. I have friends who are vegan and they got me to visit the PETA website. I watched a couple Meet Your Meat videos and I was done. I don’t miss meat at all and can’t imagine ever going back. I grew up in a town that thrives from beef packing plants and hog farms, so when I was younger and I tried to be veg, it was very difficult. People treated me like a leper! I still get a lot of teasing from my family and friends but all in all they are supportive. That helps a lot.

I became a vegetarian in January. I didn’t “mean” to, I was doing a lot of fasting a reading and meditation. I came to a point in my life, where I decided I was going to think for myself, and make my own choices. I had always eaten meat, so it was normal and ok. But for me, and for now, I am not eating meat, or animal products. I am fairly uneducated about the whole product market, and what has animal products, but I am taking things one step at a time

Prince Fielder 16 months ago

I think that often times males worry that by becoming vegetarians, they’ll appear less masculine. That couldn’t be further from the truth, of course, but now there’s a little more proof. It comes the form of the Milwaukee Brewers’ first baseman, Prince Fielder .

Hopefully with more and more role models (Carrie Underwood, Bob Barker, etc.) becoming vegans and vegetarians, more people will see that “it is a part of the destiny of the human race, in its gradual improvement, to leave off eating animals.” – Henry Thoreau

bumpersticker 17 months ago

I forgot to say that I have had a vegetarian bumpersticker on my car for the past few years. Not enough, but it’s something.

Vegan Outreach sells pamphlets to hand out. I might buy some and find someone to help me hand them out at various places. I’m sick of the speciesism in the world around me. The good news of veganism is that KILLING FOR FOOD IS UNNECESSARY!

I honestly thought 20 months ago

by becoming a vegetarian and giving up meat products I would be healthier and avoid the iradiated, genetically altered foods.

I was wrong. Being a vegetarian is a healthy choice but now we have to go even further to promote healthy food sources. Some say eating locally grown/raw food will be the only way we can be certain that we are not being poisoned by our food.

I watched a documentary on the future of our food
this morning that had the perfect explanation as to how ecoli got into the spinach crops that caused such an uproar earlier this year.

We have got to seriously make some changes very, very soon.

Have you ever had 21 months ago

a garden burger? The spicy black bean burgers are my absolute favorite with a slice of tomato, onion and horseradish sauce.

Think that is what I will have for lunch. :)

I have been a Vegetarian for about a year. My friends joke with me about it. I want to be more serious in talking with them about it, opening their minds to the joy and possibility of vegetarianism. If anything I have come to find more food possibilities after becoming a vegetarian. My mom became a vegetarian when I did, and my dad is almost completely one. He is becoming more convinced because he has gotten sick the last few times he has eaten meat. I think it is a sign.
