I don't want to get old and set in my ways! 1 week ago

I find that as I get older (I’m 25 now), I get more set in my ways and tend to think I know the way things are going to go, that there are certain things that I just won’t enjoy, that that girl from high school is a ‘certain way’....

I want to open myself up to the idea that I probably have no idea about how things are and how they might go.

I want to open myself up to new possibilities.

i am pretty open minded but not totally. sometimes it is really hard to be open minded because of things i can’t forget because i learned the hard way. but that sort of thing can develop into a hang up that will hold you back. it’s really hard because you have to be open minded sometimes when you don’t want to.

Be more Open-Minded: Week 1 9 months ago

I’m starting small,my goal is: movies/music/books that are different from which I usually see/listen to/read. I’m going to the movie theater and gonna watch movies I would have never thought I would watch. I’m doing the same with music and books. After my week’s up, I’m doing something new.Try it!

I have gotten to the point of accepting anything can be done, nothing in the universe is for sheer certainty except the laws of science. There aren’t any rules or limits except for the ones you create for yourself. I feel like people often put up barriers when they are afraid when really there is nothing in their way at all.

Listening instead of speaking 16 months ago

With my job as a community organizer, I am required to do a tremendous amount of listening to people – their concerns, their passions, their desires for change. To build a strong and powerful organization, I have to organize a diverse group of people, which means I have to be sensitive to their differing needs. Also, I have to represent the organization, which means I can’t always just give my opinion, or even argue when someone expresses something I personally disagree with. All of this has the effect of making me more humble and open to people and other ways of thinking…

i don’t have alot of patience with closed minded people. I try hard to look at opinions from other peoples view.

when you’re not so uptight about things. and will actually open your mind, it feels so much better.

Wow, this post sounds a lot like me.

About two decades ago, it was easy for me to “live and let live”. Some how I lost that and I have become more aware of it. Need to
make some changes, get some new habits, which will take awhile.

When I judge others it accomplishes little to nothing. I endeavor to be more like Christ.
