How I did it: Been wanting this tattoo for a long time. I decided to color in good 'ol Ferdinand and add the line "he is very happy" to the bottom of the tat. I like to think that like Ferdinand, Elliott is very happy and that one day i'll find happiness too. |

I’ve been wanting a new tattoo for a long time now, but I knew I wanted it to be truly special and one-of-a-kind (like the man himself). I have some ideas and need to start sketching them out. I’d like to have this tat completed by the time I take my trip to So Cal on Spring Break 2010.

My sister and I had just gone out for dinner then walked by a tattooist and I said, “let’s get one” she thought I was insane, but I knew I’d wanted a tattoo on my wrist since 5th grade and a few years ago I realised that had to be an Elliott Smith tattoo. So we decided to get matching ones. A heart on our wrists with the figure 8 sign in the middle. I’d like lyrics to go around it or something. It doesn’t feel quiet complete. But I love it anyhow.

I think I have finally found the tattoo I want to get. I was bored and started to draw on myself one night, I came upon this. I have showed a few people and they really dont understand at all. “so, theyre just stick figures?” Hope some of you will. What do you think of it?

so the plans didn’t work out and i don’t have my tattoo yet. i was thinking of getting ferdinand the bull on my arm with either the lyrics i’m never gonna know you know but i’m gonna love you anyhow or hour to hour / note to note underneath it. it’s from waltz-#2 my favorite song. i don’t know which to pick. any feedback would be much appreciated!

Elliot Smith’s music helped me stay sane after my closest cousin, childhood friend, and confidant comitted suicide.
My plan is to incorprate some of Elliot’s album art and my cousin’s birth and death years into one tattoo. It would give it more meaning than just a fan tattoo.
Although it doesn’t look the way that I had expected, I am still proud to say that I have done it :)
EVERY YEAR I say I’m gonna get an elliott smith tattoo, and I can never decide on a concept or design. Now his birthday is 10 days away, and I still haven’t decided. The pressures on….
