live in a place where I don't need a car

no need for a car, most the roads suck anyways =]

No need for a car there, and I couldn’t afford it then! I have one now, and I love it. However, I wish I could take public transportation more often, since driving cuts into my reading time (as it should).

I love being able to walk basically anywhere I need to go…and if I can’t walk there, DC has excellent public transportation…and I REALLY love not having to buy gas, especially with prices like they are now!

I’ve lived in NYC for 6 years and it’s pretty much standard to not own a car here- parking is rare and expensive, tickets are abundant and expensive, insurance is expensive, driving in the city pretty much sucks, and the buses, trains, subways and the rare taxi here and there are abundant, easy and cheap. So it’s pretty much a no-brainer. I’m pretty sure I’ll reach my goal to not own a car until I’m 30. Other cities to check out- Boston and Chicago – also possible to not own a car there relatively easily.

On top of all the usual reasons (bad for environment, promotes sprawl, uses natural resources, expensive, etc.) – I just don’t like to drive. I’m not particularly good at it, either.
