Just in time for the high tomorrow to be like 49 . . . after today’s high of 79!
Anyhow, I got a nice purple one at Penney’s. Regular price was $200, it was on sale for $59.99, plus there was a $10 off Penney’s coupon. w00t. Works for me. :)

before the temperature drops again! Today warmed up . . . tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be in the 70s . . . but it is supposed to drop like 40+ degrees Saturday night, so I should definitely go shop for a coat before then since it will be cold after that . . . well, at least for a few days. The weather here is all over the place!

it is COLD this evening and there is even a slight chance of snow! Plus, the high tomorrow is only supposed to be like 45 – oh well! It will have to wait until I get back!

It is 32 degrees . . . but feels like 23.
Ack!!!! And me without a winter coat yet!
I was thinking I would wait until I get back from my visit, but I am currently facing taking my dog out . . . and she isn’t quick about finding the perfect poopy spot.
Hello, I’m Abby, the soon to be human ice cube. Nice to meet ya. :)

Nothing really thrilled me, but I found a couple that I thought weren’t bad . . . and everything I even kind of liked, the Girl said NO, so I guess she’ll have to “help” pick one out for me. She is SUCH a pain in the ass.

since, oh, 1998 or 1999. I’m thinking ‘98 . . . hell, maybe even ‘97 really . . . because in the fall/winter of ‘99, we knew that we were moving to Florida in the spring of 2000 so I wouldn’t have bought a new coat that year. So, I either bought the coats that I had (I had two) in ‘98 or ‘97, or possibly one in each year.
Anyhow . . . it gets cold here. Not Ohio cold, thank goodness, but cold enough (especially with that WIND!!!!) that a winter coat is kind of a necessary thing. I almost bought one when we first got here in February because I was freezing my butt off, but I didn’t want to buy one for only a few more weeks. This morning, however, was as cold as it has been so far (and it will be colder tomorrow morning, I suspect) and quite windy, so when I took Lopez out to go potty this morning, I was pretty cold in my little sweat jacket.
I’ll have to go wander over to Burlington later this week and see what kind of selection they have (they always do have the best selection of coats). Ideally, I would like to find something that I like for $50-60, but I am probably willing to spend up to $100 if I must . . . I would just prefer to spend less, of course.
I’ve already bought the Girl a winter coat because she found one that she really liked at Aeropostale (sp?) and luckily for her, it was on sale for $50. I may have to drag Hubby over to Burlington for a coat, but I’ll have to give him a few weeks to get cold enough to get over his cheapskate tendencies before he’ll consider getting something warmer than the lightweight suede jacket he has.
I should pick up an inexpensive pair of gloves and maybe a hat, too, but we’ll see. I do have a pair of Isotoners that I’ve had forever and absolutely love (and by forever, I mean that my brother Rick bought them for me for Christmas the year I was pregnant with the Girl . . . so 1987), but like hell I’m gonna be picking up poo, even with a bag, in my Isotoners. :)

after years of perfecting an intense layering system that resulted in me being about the only person on ohio state’s campus wearing (what appeared to be) just a hoodie during the winter months, i decided i needed to buy an actual coat.
seems like an easy enough task until one takes into consideration that i am exceptionally picky about coats, thus the avoidance of even owning one for so many years. it couldn’t be puffy or big but still had to be warm. not too long or short. a nice color that would match most things. etc.
anyway, i found it! a nice navy double breasted pea coat from steve and barry’s. fits perfectly. nice and warm. hurray!

After trying on many different jackets, only to be severley disappointed by each and every one – too big in the shoulders, too long, not warm enough, too many straps/buttons/zips (a.k.a “er, how the bloody hell am I meant to get into this thing?”) – I finally found the most lovely, warm, near perfect jacket. It’s a bit cheesy, but I love the faux-fur trim on the hood. The best thing about winter is all the jackets and coats, scarves and mittens! I can’t wait. Even though I’ve now got a new winter coat, I think I’ll end up buying a couple more.
Oh and because I base most of my fashion choices entirely on what my icons/heroes/whatever-you-want-to-call-them wear/would wear, here’s a picture of Pete Doherty wearing a very similar jacket. Hooray!
