I swear, I didn’t think it would work, but I followed FlyLady’s Day 1 instruction to shine my kitchen sink before going to bed, and 3 days later, my sink is still sparkling clean and clear at night before I go to bed. I’ve even been doing it with (gasp) pleasure, if you can believe it, because I know that when I wake up and stagger into the kitchen in the morning, I won’t have to face a sink- and counter-full of dirty dishes, cups, cutlery, pans, food wrappers, crumbs, spills, etc. And when I get home after work, I ditto. It has made me feel better than I’ve felt in months!
So, then, I did the same with my bathroom sink, though that wasn’t next on the task list. It’s just that those two sinks were so disgusting, they made me feel dirty just to look at them. Now, no more used washcloths, hairy hairbrush, blow dryer, used Q-tips, almost empty bottles of lotion and hair product, scummy soap dish, water marks, etc. to have to see when I get ready for work in the morning.
Even though the rest of the house is still cluttered and messy and, yes, filthy, with my two sinks (and, by extension, entire rooms, because I couldn’t seem to leave it at shining the sinks but had to shine up the rest of the kitchen and bathroom), I feel so clean and, well, happy.
Who knew such small changes would make such a big difference
