How can i get level faster?

January 1st 2009 started new Character hope I keep Him around. 10 months ago

I go through WoW characters more often the I change my briefs (not really). I created a new one he’s a Dranei Paladin named Sojourne.
Got to level 7 today playing only occasionaly. I certainly don’t want WoW to take all my free time but I do enjoy playing. Eveything in moderation is the key I think.

There wasn’t a “Don’t really care either way.” option, but I actually hit 70 a while back. Not long after the expansion came out I think. Only have one, but it’s a good money maker. Daily quests = 100ish gold. But now it’s raiding and pvp… urgh.

I hit 60 after the cap was raised to 70. Total letdown.

When you can do whatever you want, it gets old fast.

(open loop) A scary similarity to... 2 years ago

The study of rats pushing a ‘pleasure button’, wired to their nervous system making them feel intense pleasure with every press.

They pushed it 5000 times an hour, stopping only when they fell asleep, forgoing sex, food and water.

Thank God (I mean it) that breathing is involuntary.

My experience with WOW became like that after a month,
it stopped being about the exploration/socialising/achieving etc

and became about getting my ‘fix’ of pleasure, throughout the day I’d get intense hits of pleasure/dopamine even when not playing, and an intense urge to get back to it.

I loved making gold from the auction system, arbitrage rocks.

Most exciting moment:
finding an afk lvl60 (I was a lvl30 hunter) and attacking it.

Lo and behold there was a player behind it the whole time, let me get it to 5% health, then sent me to the graveyard.

any tips on how to play without getting addicted?

wasn't worth it for me in any way that mattered 2 years ago

I made level 60 after a few months of fairly relaxed play, but realised that all there was left to the game after that was either tedious grinding, or the promise of rewards awarded infrequently and at random. A week later I vended everything I had, gave away the gold, and cancelled my account. I’ve never regretted it, and the free trial copy of Burning Crusade that Blizzard sent me sits here untouched and unwanted.

If you’re considering getting out of WoW, don’t think of it as quitting, think of it as winning the game. If that seems like an artifice, realise that you have to make up your own victory condition, because Blizzard is never going to give you a way to win.

For me, the lesson of my time spent playing WoW is summed up by a comment I saw somewhere: “Never pay someone for the privilege of letting them control your sense of accomplishment.”

HOOORA!!!!! 2 years ago

I’ve finally reached level 60. I’ve been playing WoW for about a month and a half. I was able to reach this goal while still maintaining good grades, and a strong social life. Forget what a lot of people say, there is a way to be a WoW master and still maintain a normal and good life, You just have to figure out how you can do it. Now with the BC out, its time to reach level 70!!
