Zoe has lots of work to do!

Didn't quite work... 8 months ago

I didn’t realise that the ferry to Isle of Wight takes 40 minutes, that would mean that if I was to do this with the cycling it would take about 1 1/2 hours or more… But I could get the ferry to Gosport and cycle to and from each ferry port and see how that works out – the cycling should be about the same distance as it would if I went skating at Ryde, but the ferry is much quicker. I’ll test this out when my bike’s fixed (which is hopefully tonight!) and see how it goes! =D If this doesn’t work then I’ll have to give up on this goal until leaving Portsmouth.

    Possible solution... 9 months ago

The ferry is an inconvenient way to get to the ice rink as it’s miles from the rink, and the hovercraft is really expensive and doesn’t run very late, but now that I have a bike I have a plan which may possibly work… As I have a bike now I decided that I’m gonna cycle to the ferry port and from the ferry port to the ice rink to try out whether I think I’d be able to do it weekly or not. Travelling would, I worked out, take around 1 hour in total, including ferry and cycling, which is quite a long time but it’s all good exercise =) I’m going to test it out with a few friends sometime soon and see how it goes!

    Why!! 10 months ago

Why can’t this be simple?? I live in Portsmouth so the two nearest ice rinks are Ryde and Gosport. Both do lessons which seem quite good, but the hard part is getting there.
To get to Ryde: either Hovercraft for about £16 or ferry plus an hour walk
To get to Gosport: ferry for £2.20 and a bus for £3.75 or ferry and an hour of walking.
I wouldn’t mind the walking so much if I didn’t also have to walk half an hour this end each way! That would make 2 hours of walking and half an hour of ice skating. It doesn’t sound that bad now, but I know that when it comes to it I’ll not enjoy it too much! (and will probably get lost! :p)
I’m tempted to do the Gosport with the bus one though.. Will think about it a bit more!
