meet Kurt Vonnegut

He died before I could do this :(

Unfortunately, this cannot happen anymore. I can only meet him on the page.

Kurt died April 2007, so I’m afraid I’ll only be able to do this in the afterlife… a sentiment he would have found amusing.

I would have never given up on this one as long as he was alive. But I suppose some things just aren’t meant to be.

Met him backstage when I tagged along with a writer friend who was speaking before him. Our brief banter included his lamenting the death of John Belushi, which he “still hasn’t gotten over.” He’s also very tall/big. Love that man.

I met Vonnegut before a speaking engagement and I am sad to report he was kind of a dick. He was utterly charming and funny during the speaking engagement though. That part was well worth listening to.

Well I saw him speak live anyway….He was much funnier and wittier in person than I could have thought…

I couldn’t believe my eyes. Another ‘son of an architect’ who thought like me!
