How to get my eyebrows threaded
How I did it: I saw a place in the mall and thought , hey I'll try it. I've been doing it for maybe a year now. I do think it hurts but bearbly so. Waxing must hurt like an MF-er though, if threading is nothing in comparison.
Lessons & tips: I've never paid more than 8 for just the brows. I'm thinking about taking a few aspirin beforehand next time because it may hurt less.
People doing this are also doing these things:

it doesn’t hurt as much as you’d think, especially if they use an astringent beforehand
Lightstroke knows how she feels :)
I actually had it done a few weeks back, and I don’t regret it!
My eyebrows are more defined, and expressive, which was more than I was expecting. I just wanted them to look neat.
In any case, it was rather interesting as far as hair removal goes, and perhaps it’s a bit much of me to say it was a cultural experience, but honestly, it was!
It was an interesting sensation, not pain free, more like extreme plucking, so if you already pluck, it’s not much worse, which is why I still think would be ten times less painful than getting them waxed :S
I have no plans to go in regularly, so I’m hoping to maintain their shape by plucking them myself.
I finally had it done! It actually felt a little surreal, feeling the thread remove my hairs. At the end, the skin was a little red but there was no stinging. No more waxing for me!
...I finally made an appointment to get my eyebrows done tomorrow. I’m not ready to commit getting my entire face done just yet. I’m a little nervous, but I’m determined to at least try it out before deciding if it’s right for me or not.
...so I’m going to stay friends with my tweezers instead.
Tis cheaper anyway and more inkeeping with my “stopping spending” goal (haha, way to justify self for giving up!)
I LOVE threading. It feels like a bit of sandpaper is being very GENTLY rubbed over your eyebrows…not like your facial follicles are being RRRRRRRRIPPPPPED out with hot wax. I don’t have anywhere to get threaded in my hometown but I’ve lived in Los Angeles and New York and there are tons of places. Also, if you’re on a skin medication like Retin-A or Accutane, waxing is very dangerous and can leave burns, scabs, and scars. Because waxing grabs the hairs as well as the skin surrounding them, you’re more likely to have negative results if you’re on these medications. Threading, however, just grabs the hairs themselves, leaving the skin healthy and intact. Thread away :)
I went to the spa at our resort to have this done. I really liked the results. I agree that it is less painful, bad for the environment etc. than waxing.
I also once made the mistake when I was a teen of having my brows waxed while on skin medication… definitely don’t do that! I had scabs on my eyelids for weeks. This would not happen with treading.
Wasn’t worth it for me. Sure, it was good to do it at least once, but man, it didn’t last that long! I was disappointed to pay $15 for threading and my hair grew back the next week!
