open a yarn store

I’ve struggled my whole life with deciding what career path I want to take. I’ve jumped around from idea to idea, and each time I have one, I think THIS is what I want to do.. but then it just fades…

I have finally decided what I want to do… it’s been lingering for YEARS… BUT, I’ve finally come out and said it.

I want to have my own yarn shop!!!!

I’m finding my distributors for needles & notions. Looking at what yarns and types I want to carry.

I’ve outlined my business plan (sticky notes in my day planner).

Think I found a start off location.

I need to; want to; must get out of the “corporate” world …

Someone with a strong knitting knowledge background. I have the funding and administrative abilities, but need someone who is really strong in the teaching end. Open to discussion.

I want to open a knitting studio complete with cone yarn (the most economical way to purchase yarn), tons of knit and crochet needles, knitting machines, craft library to end them all, and a snack bar. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, I can’t make a living at this, so maybe I’ll try it in my retirement years.

I have another fiber-related idea that I will pursue instead. Maybe this new idea will eventually build me the capital to open a store.

This topic hasn’t been discussed in some time it seems, but this is something I’m starting to explore. I would love to know if anyone has accomplished this goal and can share the best first steps?

To open a yarn shop is my life’s dream and goal right now. But I’m having a hard time tracking-down distributors. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
