ok so,
all of my life i’ve been really INFLEXIBLE. i never really noticed it, until someone else brought it to my attention.
so i decided to begin stretching day and night, and ALSO at that time i discovered the art of breathing, and STUMBLED upon a cheap yoga book !
obviously it was a sign, and i began doing the asanas and breathing and WOW, yoga is the BOMB !
i’m no master (yet), but the poses have helped me tremendously. i’ve also shown a few peeps the correct way to stretch and meditate, and they thought i should be an instructor .
i can totally see that !

Been taking Iyengar yoga for a few years now and I think I could do it. If I’m doing it everyday I might as well get paid for it right?!

I finished my MBA in May. Now I wanted to get back into Yoga. I used to practive every day. But my life has changed. I am not single anymore and have more things on my schedule.
I went back to the gym to see my favorite instructor finally last week. Now I need to stay on top of it. Before I take certification classes, I have to get back into it.

lynner life is short...do another backbend!
When I started yoga teacher training, in the fall, my intention was merely to deepen my own practice. It wasn’t until months later, when I started my second 100 hour module, that I knew I wanted to teach.
I expected yoga teacher training to be physically demanding. It was exhausting, yes, but not from the physical poses. It was much more emotionally intense and involved much more work than I thought it would be. Tons of homework: anatomy, history, philosophy, learning chants, group projects, learning poses, sequences and adjusting. Tears, laughter, fatigue, stress, fear, anger, joy…and a deep sense of accomplishment.
Now I am teaching vinyasa in a small rock-climbing gym once a week. It takes two or three hours to prepare for class: music, sequencing, and thinking about the theme for practice. I would like to say that every week gets easier and easier, but that’s not true yet. I see progress, and have some great classes, but some other classes don’t flow as well (usually, when I haven’t prepared well, or haven’t done enough yoga myself). I am grateful for the skills I have, happy to share them and looking forward to progressing on this path.

Since I will now be working at Omega for the next 8 months, I’ve put the training off until after I get back. This will give me the chance to practice here under some amazing teachers. It will also give me time to simply deepen my personal practice, which I was starting to realize needed a lot more time. I wasn’t ready to start a training. But in 8 months, I think I will!

I got a work/study at an excellent studio where I can practice with great teachers, and alongside great students, unlimited for free!
I am saving money for the teacher training. I have about 30% saved. I hope to train between Jan and March of 2009. And then be certified.
In a magical world I would also go to India, possibly even train in India, but not sure that will happen.
Until then I am practicing as much as possible (goal: every day). My practice has deepened and transformed since I’ve made this commitment in my heart. I’m excited and I can’t wait to learn more…

I always figured the spiritual journey would send me to India or Thailand or something, but there’s a yoga school in prague that sounds amazing. i found it on goabroad.com. So now there are a whole bunch of other things to consider. When to leave? The five month course starts in October, which might be too soon. Maybe if I can save up enough money by the end of the summer, I can put down a deposit and start making payments. But then there’s the passport to consider, and the visa. Oh, and czech sounds like a really tough language. but we’ll see….
