I’m on page 116, 290 pages to go…...
If I finish the book I’ll buy tickets to the play.

I saw the musical before completing the book and have now given up. This is the most boring, hard to follow book I have ever read. The play is amaxing.
This book wasn’t very good. Elements were imaginative, but the pacing sucked and I didn’t care much about the characters. I’ve heard the musical is good, so I’ll have to check that out.
I am half way through it and should finish today.
It is a wonderful book, but if you have seen the musical it is very different. I prefer the book for some reasons. It is a lot darker than the musical. It is very funny, and wonderfully enjoyable for anyone.
good character development and dialog, especially earlier in the book. i recommend the book and look forward to reading the sequel – “Son of a Witch”.
This was the book that got me really into Gregory Maguire. I also really enjoyed Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Mirror Mirror was decent, but I couldn’t make it through Lost. Didn’t like it at all.
Just started today and already hooked. One bad thing about a good book – I get lousy sleep because I stay up too late reading it!
bibliomane oommmmmmmmmm
I have read during the past several years. It is one of those books I feel like I could read repeatedly and have a different and meaningful experience, because it operates on so many different levels (political satire, rumination on the nature of good vs. evil, rewrite of Wizard of Oz, etc.).
How they managed to make a musical out of it is certainly a mystery to me, since it is rather a serious novel. I can’t imagine.
