Help Lee & Sachi Meet 43T Users on Their Trip Around the World in 2006

We should be hooking up with a couple of 43t users around ChristChurch in a couple of weeks.

[Updated] Very cool… I got about 10 replies and a couple of offers to hook up.

Lee and Sachi had a nice bit on Seattle’s King 5 today and yesterday. Something like: couple to travel around the world, blog about it, post pictures on the fly from Lee’s phone, ask people in places if they want to meet up all while they miss their dog Amos back home.

Some of my friends are scattered around the globe and I hope to get them to look after Lee and Sachi somewhere, somehow, as they coast from one country to the next.

One of the things we’d like to do is give the getherings a name that’s unique and describes what we’re trying to do. Meet-up is a good example, but not unique and has other meanings. Gathering is ok, but not quite it.

We’re thiking we’d have to be able to use it in a sentence like: “We’re planning another ___ for Hong Kong, come on out.”

We’s also like the name to relate a comfortable and relaxed social scene. Names regarding alcohol or establishments that serve alcohol seem to work well for that. We would likley be meeting in bars for the most part.

Another consideration is that the langauge must be as cross-cultural as possible.

Some of the words we’re considered are: beer, brew, spirits, pub, tavern, hops, suds, social, gathering, friends, group, crew, local, neighborhood, hometown, home, twinf, greet, meet, etc.

One of the names that has risen to the top for us is “pub social” as in “come on out to another pub social.

All thoughts and ideas are welcome, please. :)

My wife Sachi and I are leaving our home in Seattle on December 11th, 2005 for a trip around the world that is scheduled for all of 2006. Our first stop will be New Zealand and we arrive there on January 7th (we’re visiting family in the US in the meantime).

You seem like good people that would be fun to meet, so we’re hoping to use 43 Things and 43 Places to organize local gatherings or meetups in some of the cities we’ll visit.
