Did this in the Caneries a few summers ago. They’re right about them being the ships of the desert. They do rock a lot but still good fun. Not recomended for those who get sea sick though.
How to ride a camel into the desert
It made me

How I did it: When I was in Mongolia I spent a lot of time in the Gobi desert. The desert there is absolutely amazing, its weird how something that has nothing can be so beautiful.
Over there camels literally run wild. I don't think I would have left Mongolia without riding a camel.
I wanted to do it, but doing it was so amazing. I know that sounds weird, but when you're up there on a camel, actually riding into the desert, its just a mind blowing experience.
I named my camel Priscilla :) Queen of the Desert
Lessons & tips: Just do it, seriously its not hard to organise, find a desert and ride into it. I wrote 4 months, because that's how long it took to organise the whole trip, not how long it took to organise the camel ride. I imagine if I'd done it closer to home, it would have taken less time
