Laeshawchristmas

I got a scale for Christmas that also measures your body fat and water percentages (with customizable input data). Yay! 5 years ago

worth it, but only weigh yourself once a day (when you wake up) without clothes. know that your weight fluctuates a little each day because of many factors (if you’ve gone to the bathroom yet, if you’re retaining water, etc.) don’t let it rule your life. oh, and don’t even bother weighing when you are pmsing or on your period. you will always be heavier, so don’t torture yourself. 5 years ago

Can you say “obsessive”? I would get on it 400 times a day…not good. 6 years ago

ludmikanedaI don't care anymore

I was once obsessed with weight, now I simply don’t watch it anymore. For 10 years, I just don’t know how much I weight. 6 years ago

FlashMy geeky side is lovin' it!

In addition to weight, this scale measures body fat % and body water % (to make sure you are properly hydrated). I’m not taking any actions to change my lifestyle at this point, but I’m looking forward to tracking this information (maybe even making little graphs in Excel if I really have alot of time on my hands).

As of now I am just squeeking under the line in the healthy range, according to my new scale.

P.S. Note to feminists, sensitive guys and all body-positive crusaders who don’t know me yet: I love my body just the way it is (and so does my partner) and this isn’t about shame or guilt, it’s about being proactive with my health. 7 years ago

FlashReceived a gift certificate to "Bed Bath & Beyond"

I became completely obsessed with my weight once I got it, so I got rid of it. 7 years ago

FlashWhat I really want is one of those fancy body fat analyzing scales

Even though I read a report in consumer reports that says they’re not as accurate as they claim to be. Apparently they don’t give an accurate reading of body fat, but their margin of error stays the same for each individual. So they’re useful for tracking changes and fluctuations in body fat composition. 7 years ago

FlashI have always felt that having a bathroom scale meant obsessing about every ounce

and would be bad for my body image. I felt proud to say that I have never owned a bathroom scale.

But I recently heard a report on public radio stating that people who weigh themselves daily are more successful at controlling their weight (gaining, maintaining or losing, as needed). Both my parents are heavy, and I suspect that maintaining a healthy weight into my late thirties will not be as effortless as it has been thus far.

And my new policy about change is: gathering additional information is never bad. This goes for my weight too. I don’t have to change my behavior if I don’t want to. But it can’t hurt to know what my weight is, and to notice its daily ups and downs. 7 years ago
