It`s easy to raise the babies, just keep them dry and warm, feed them turkey or gamebird starter (has a higher protein content). The adults, as long as they are trained to stick around, are great to keep the area clean of snakes and ticks as well as other bugs and always raise the alrm whenever theres and intruder. Mine all stay home and out of the neighbours, but tahts because we live on a farm and raised them all from young stock. As of now I`m sitting with a day old keet (baby guinea), they`re very amusing both young and as adults.

My first neighbor didn’t mind the droppings on his deck, but then he sold his house to a guy from Long Island, and the guy couldn’t even drive my Guineas away with the garden hose! He likes dirt bikes – not animals. I like animals – not dirt bikes. He asked me to get rid of my Guineas. I did. Cause I am a nice guy. The Long Islander and me, we only wave now.

I have about 20-25 guineas…I think. It’s hard to count them. They run around the farm, making a lot of noise, eating bugs (especially ticks!!!) and always let me know when there’s an “intruder” – be it human or animal. When I first started raising them, I found that it was kind of “learn as you go.” I lost my whole first batch the first year…but now – I’m in my 4’th year of raising them…and I think I’ve kind of mastered the whole thing. At least I’d like to think so.
