How to hike in the desert

How I did it: I've hiked Sabino Canyon and Picacho Peak in Arizona, near Tucson. It was a good way to stay active and feel adventurous for a day. Sabino Canyon had lots of nature things to see and was more like a flat walk and Picacho Peak was more like climbing a mountain. At the top you had to heist yourself up steep rocks with chains. One of my friends refused to go because of fear of heights but I made it to the top and looked out over the dry brown desert speckled with saguaro cacti
Lessons & tips: don't give up! budget for a day or half day to devote to hiking.
