Raft a Class 5 Rapid

What a rush the Royal Gorge class 5 was. I came one toe hold from falling out of the raft on one of the worst (i mean best) stretches. Found out 2 people died on the same river 3 days after I did it, I could see how. Make sure you have an experienced rafting company take you, performance tours were great.

After flipping our raft on the first of three class 5 rapids, I would honestly say that was the closest I’ve ever been to the after-life. However, that only makes me want to do it again. From what I was told by our guides, who compete internationally for the U.S., Gore Canyon is one of the top three rafting adventures in North America. This is a must-do on anyone’s life list.

Totally worth it. I rafted the Upper Gauley when they were flooding the valey at the end of the summer.
