might be able to make time for camping this summer. I have some friends who are living in the forest all summer and they have invited us out to their land!
How I did it: I had all the stuff, but I didn't have anyone with whom to camp. I attend a residential high school, and I couldn't find someone that wanted to leave for a weekend. Eventually, I talked to someone I never spoke to, and asked if he wanted to go with me. Now we are best friends, we go camping or backpacking every weekend, and we have inspired a huge group of teenagers to go camping more often. Read how I did it…
grlnxtdr thinks it will all work itself out
How I did it: I decided that I need to free up my list a little. Have some practical, everyday goals so I am more motivated to do them and post on my beloved 43T.Camping more often is a given. Read how I did it…

for an outdoorsy camp in Colorado!! I’l be there 6 weeks, and there’s usually 1 overnight a week, so 6 camp overnights. Plus at least one overnight with my boyfriend when he comes to visit :) Maybe even a few more with my friends and possibly family throughout the summer, as I get Friday-Sunday off each week!
I now have:
~some new camping/outdoors clothes (including Mountain Hardware Gortex rain jacket)
~a sleeping pad that DOESN’T have a hole in it
~a small foldable chair (much smaller than traditional camping chairs.. it’s the Monarch Chair by Alite)
~a new BPA-free Nalgene and silicone Splash Guard
~my own headlamp
So yeah I’m pretty excited to camp this summer and just be outdoors in general!
xmyheart is going to be an aunt!!!
I go at least once or twice a year. Hoping to go camping a lot more than that this summer, with my bf, son and dog. We always have such a good time.
Specifically, a VW Eurovan with a pop top, the theory being that I prefer car camping over tent camping. Just enough of the creature comforts to make it more fun than adventuresome. I’m working on buying a 2003 with low miles. If so, I’ll either love it or it’ll be that stupid thing I bought compulsively in order to fulfill an invented need. Pretty much the modern condition. Sometimes I feel that way when I order french fries. I didn’t really need (or want) french fries … I just ordered them because they were there on the menu. But once in a while french fries are simply wonderful.
Okay, so back to camping. I want to go camping this summer and sleep in a well-appointed van. I think that would be awesome.
chailey99 is amazed how easy it was to think of 43 things for this list
I know there are so many great places to camp within five hours of my home but we haven’t ventured out with our tents since moving to Georgia two years ago. Isabella barely remembers her 1st and last camping trip to Brazos Bend, probably only by looking at pictures. Sad. I really miss camping. We have everything to do it, just need to find a place and time.
My boyfriend and I recently spent a week camping in Zion and Bryce national parks…it was awesome! The area is just beautiful and the parks are so well managed. We had such a great time and it was one of the best vacations that I’ve ever had. I love camping!
This summer I did a one night camp out, a 3 night backpacking trip, a 4 night river kayaking trip, and a one night camp out with a couple of friends (no adults… finally!). They were all really fun!
In the summer I sleep in my sleeping bag on a mattress with no pillow on my deck in Colorado and sleep under the thousands of stars to simulate camping…. sigh, it’s amazing. Sometimes when I really miss it back in New York, I will open all of my windows and sleep in my sleeping bag on my bed :D
I love the smell and colour of my tent. It’s amazing to pack up a private living and sleeping space in a bag. It satisfies my need when I’m having we all live in boxes mad moments! I must get away in it more often.
The camping trip with my boyfriend was a lot of fun. Big Sur is such a beautiful place and we did lots of hiking. Looking forward to planning a big camping trip to Utah in the fall.
