amerikaann is procrastinating diligently and consciously.
Although the big move to Seattle is far far away, and I thought I would just stay put until then, I need to move to a new apartment now, sooner. The current environment I’m in is stifling, and quite frankly ridiculous. I live in the effing suburbs. No bueno. On February 1st, shortly after I get my financial aid, I will move into a new, tiny, cheap apartment in the midtown area of Sacramento. I will be amongst relatively lively culture, as much as you can find in this silly “city.” I need to at least be amongst like-minded peers, or more like-minded peers than the family freaks who live in the suburbs. No more mini-vans with sticker representations of their family on the back window please!!!

vijjichari is getting a little psyched - 4 months left, so much to do!
This is top priority for me this year and i also feel its probably going to be the toughest. New apartment for me means a space to call my own where everything happens the way i want it to. A warm and cosy place where i can also have family and friends visiting and staying over without too much of a hassle for anyone. Will not be easy but totally worth it. right now i need to visualise it for myself. An open kitchen, floor seating, personal photographs all over the place, warm yellow lighting, simple plants, wind chimes, candles, a comfortable nook for reading and a child’s room for nia :)

Bee Sage Just two and a half weeks of semester left!
So I learned today that the guy I left in the property manager’s office signing papers DIDN’T sign anything and never told me. Neither did the property manager. So I don’t have 3 subletters. And, when I called him today, he responds with “Yeah, i saw your e-mail four days ago, I understand your situation, but I can’t help you.” GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Maybe it’s a good thing he’s not subletting from me. But, I WILL, mark my words, get the $50 sublease fee I had to pay the property managers from him.

Bee Sage Just two and a half weeks of semester left!
When I get out of my final tonight, we’re packing up the bed and loading the car. I’ll still have to come back for a couple pieces of furniture because Dad can’t make it down in this weather, but that’s okay. They don’t have enough furniture to put in the living room to consider my stuff in the way.
Leaving tomorrow after work!!
EDIT: Due to freezing rain HURTING LIKE CRAZY, we didn’t load the car last night, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get out tonight, just not as fast!

One subletter signed, one pending, getting the keys for my new place within the week…all I have to do is start moving stuff out! Dad took some stuff home with him today (including my car keys on accident!!) and he’s coming back for a conference next week, so some of my furniture can go then.
Hopefully I can move straight into the new place, but we’ll see!
The best part is that my current roommate is being very helpful and understanding about the whole situation.
OH!! And I bought my table and chairs!!!!!! YAY for solid wood!!!

I have the efficiency!! There is a bar RIGHT below the window, but I’ve lived in this neighborhood before, so I’ll be used to the noise. Good thing is that they can’t smoke anymore, or I’d find it impossible to breathe. (I don’t agree with the smoking-ban, but I won’t knock positive effects!)
I have one sub-letter already, and I’m searching for one more.
I’m so relieved. Life will be so, so much easier when I don’t have to rely on the buses to get home, and when I can eat whenever I choose!
I’ll be “homeless” over winter break, but I have a place for the furniture, and a bed at my parents, so come December, I’ll be free of this obscure corner of town!!

A new home??
I found a place to sublet. I now just have to go look at the place, and make sure everything is as clear cut as it seems to be.
It’s 300 square foot efficiency a block and a half off of campus, and it comes with a parking spot! There will be noise, but it’s nothing I’m not used to. My old dorm is across the street.
I’m trying to not get overly excited in case it doesn’t work out, but I think I’m failing.

Extra reason to move out…
The Egman and I were at my place when my roommates came home with guests and started smoking pot and drinking. I was so pissed I was shaking, but the Egman laughed his butt off and kept saying “that explains a LOT”.
I will probably be pulling all of my things out of the apartment during finals week this December. My boss has offered to store my furniture in his basement until I can find a place to go. The Egman will probably take my computer and anything else that shouldn’t get too cold, and the rest will fit in the car for the three weeks of break.

Yay! Roomie!
One of the girls I know pretty well just put her foot down on her living situation, and I have a roommate for sure next school year, and possibly for this Spring semester!
She’s a terrible mess in her bedroom (we’ll have separate ones), but she’s more OCD about keeping the kitchen clean than I am….we’ll get along just fine!
She’s moving out because her roommate keeps pitching her stuff onto her bed, even if it’s not in the way, and the other two housemates are trying to convert her to their denomination against her will. We talked about what we like and don’t like in a roommate, and have agreed to start hunting for apartments.
We found one not too far from campus that we might get next August (it’s as big as the one I have now, but costs less, only houses two people, is better built, and is closer to campus), but we still haven’t found anything substantial for January.
Things are looking up!! I just hope we can pin someplace down for this spring without having to deal with summer rent. (Though, we’d live just about anywhere right now as long as there’s no roaches.) I am cautiously excited!!

GAAAAAAH!!!!!
Ok…my roommates are nice people, but if I have to live with them much longer, I’m going to go into conniptions.
The one is drunk almost every time I see him, which is once every two weeks or so (he’s either asleep or at work… or drunk)
The other one is Indian. When he cooks, I can’t stop sneezing because of just how much spice he uses. (I’m thinking this is personal preference, and not an Indian norm.) He’s also not very…clean. The floor is sticky and the counters aren’t wiped down, and the sink has crud stuck to it….and he asked me why I wanted to bleach the entire room. He gets our kitchen dirtier than four lazy boys in a school apartment.
I may be overly picky (very probably), but anyone who can live with a dirty kitchen will NOT be getting along very well with me in a small shared space.
I am MOVING OUT FOR MY SANITY!!!! I don’t care where I have to go, but I need to live with maybe one other person in a clean space. ...and where I can play my music and not be called “a freakin’ neo-hippie”.
